Janet Burke-Allen
Janet is a licensed physical therapist, certified pilates trainer, and certified personal trainer. She has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry. Janet trained through Stott Pilates and earned a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from American International College.
Katrina Hawley, CMA
Katrina is a graduate of the Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation program and is a Certified Movement Analyst by the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS). Katrina has also studied Somatic Movement approaches under Janis Pforsich, Aliza Shapiro, Charlotte Wile, Irene Dowd and Martha Eddy. Katrina is on the board of directors for the International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy Association. She teaches modern dance at East Street Dance Center, and teaches Laban Movement Analysis throug out the valley. Previously, Katrina was the co-director of HawleyMartin Dance (2000-2004) and she holds her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Temple University.
Laurie Johnson, LMT
Laurie is a Certified Yoga Instructor, Certified Pilates Instructor and Licensed Massage Therapist. She has studied with the Anahata Yoga Center in Northampton, Power Pilates and Stott Pilates in New York City and at the Stillpoint School of Massage Therapy in Greenfield. She has had extensive training in anatomy and physiology. Laurie has been teaching Pilates mat classes since 2003 at The Pilates Center of Western Mass., with the Amherst LSSE, to the UMASS dressage team, and at Kinetics Adult Fitness . In July of 2005 she began her massage practice at The Pilates Center.
Nancy Hughes
Nancy has been teaching Pilates and Dance for over 7 years. She enjoys how her love for both influence each other and shares this with her students. Nancy holds her certification from Motion Studios and has taught across the country including Texas and Colorado. On her way to Motion Studios she participated in Certification Intensives at the Physical Conditioning Center in Houston, Texas. In 2000 Nancy received a BA in dance from Texas Woman’s University and she has danced for a variety of companies.
Jill Hathaway
Jill earned her Pilates Certification through Polestar Pilates with a specialty in rehabilitation. Fitness has always been a part of Jill’s life. She also works as a personal trainer and spin instructor. She has worked with the Amherst girls cross-country team, cyclists, rowers and the senior population. She enjoys running, kayaking, swimming but has a special passion for cycling. Jill received her Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science and went on to earn her Masters of Social Work.
Katie Aylward
Katie has a diverse athletic background. As a whitewater raft guide she worked for Zoar Outdoor for the past six seasons. As an avid rock climber she climbed across North America in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. As a dancer she performed for The Wire Monkey Dance Co. during the 2007 season. She received her bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Franklin Pierce College. She has been training as a pilates instructor since November 2006 and is studying for her certification with pilates Method Alliance. Doug Allen
Doug is a certified personal trainer with over 20 years in the Fitness Industry including 10 years as the Head Women’s Track and Cross- Country Coach at Westfield State College. Doug earned a Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Westfield State (1988) and a Masters of Education in Health and Fitness from Springfield College (1990).
Bill Proulx
Bill has over 20 years of triathlon racing experience including racing in Europe and completing four Ironman races. During the last 10 years Bill has been coaching tri-athletes. As a certified coach, Personal Trainer and Pilates Mat Instructor Bill enjoys helping people achieve their own personal fitness goals.
